Texas Memory Systems' RanSan-400 Achieves IBM “Ready For DB2” Status

Texas Memory Systems' RamSan-400 solid state disk is "Ready For DB2".

HOUSTON, TEXAS, January 29, 2007... Texas Memory Systems, Inc., manufacturer of the World’s Fastest Storage®, today announced that its RamSan-400 has obtained the IBM "Ready for IBM DB2" designation.

To achieve the IBM "Ready for IBM DB2" designation, the Texas Memory Systems RamSan-400 solid state disk successfully passed a series of IBM specified tests that authenticated its compatibility with IBM’s DB2 data server software. As a result of Texas Memory Systems achieving this status, users of IBM DB2 data server can confidently deploy the RamSan-400 to help accelerate OLTP applications such as ERP (enterprise resource planning) as well as their Business Intelligence solutions.

"Customers throughout the world are choosing the IBM DB2 data server to implement transaction processing and business intelligence systems because it delivers the performance and scalability they need," said Berni Schiefer, IBM Distinguished Engineer. "By meeting the requirements of “The Ready for DB2” program, Texas Memory Systems' has proven that it can provide businesses with greater flexibility, performance and scalability for their DB2 environments using solid state disks."

The Texas Memory Systems RamSan-400 can deliver up to 400,000 I/Os per second, up to 3,000 megabytes per second of bandwidth, and sub-15 micro second response time. This high performance makes the RamSan-400 considerably faster than hard disk or flash memory based storage systems.

“Texas Memory Systems is committed to increasing performance and easily integrating into IBM enterprise IT environments,” said Woody Hutsell, Executive Vice President at Texas Memory Systems. “In 2004, we were proud to offer the first solid state disk to be designated IBM TotalStorage Proven and today we are proud to be validated as the first solid state disk to be ‘Ready for IBM DB2’.”
