Texas Memory Systems Announces Major Price Drop for RamSan Solid State Disks
The price to purchase a RamSan 210 with 8GB of SDRAM dropped from $50,000 to $40,000. “The RamSan 210 now delivers an even better value proposition for companies looking to lower the total cost of ownership (TCO) associated with their storage networks,” commented Holly Frost CEO of Texas Memory Systems. The RamSan, which is used to eliminate I/O bottlenecks in storage networks, lowers TCO by providing a better price: performance ratio than RAID combined with very low long-term maintenance costs. “The average price for solid state disks today is around $15 per megabyte, whereas the starting price for a RamSan 210 is $5 per megabyte. We are in the unique position of being both the technology leader and the price leader among solid state disk manufacturers,” said Woody Hutsell Marketing Director for Texas Memory Systems, “Our pricing becomes even more attractive as additional memory is added to the chassis.” Texas Memory
Systems launched development for the RamSan 210 in April, 2001 and
expects for the product to be generally available later this summer.
When released, the RamSan 210 will redefine the solid state disk market
by offering performance, availability, reliability and pricing never
seen before in solid state disks. About Texas
