Texas Memory Systems Joins the DAFS Collaborative

Houston, Texas—March 20, 2001—Texas Memory Systems, manufacturers of the World’s Fastest Storage, announced that the company has joined the DAFS collaborative. DAFS is a new file-access protocol that is being designed to take advantage of new standard memory-to-memory interconnect technologies such as VI and InfiniBand in datacenter environments. This protocol will dramatically enhance the performance of Internet, collaborative, e-commerce, and database applications through a new generation of high-performance, low-latency storage networks.

“We are participating in the DAFS Collaborative because we see DAFS as an excellent way for server to storage data transfers to be accelerated”, according to Paul Kaler VP of Technology for Texas Memory Systems, “as the DAFS protocol is adopted it only makes sense for the company that manufactures the World’s Fastest Storage to be a supporter.”

“Combining the advantages of solid state disk and DAFS seems like a natural direction for Texas Memory Systems”, said Holly Frost the CEO of Texas Memory Systems. “We are involving our engineers in order to learn as much as we can about the protocol and add our expertise where it is relevant,” he continued. Texas Memory Systems involvement in the DAFS collaborative will begin with the next developer meeting scheduled immediately after the Storage Networking World conference in Palm Desert, CA.

About Texas Memory Systems
Texas Memory Systems (TMS) has specialized in high bandwidth, low latency, I/O intensive storage systems since 1978.  TMS products were originally designed to meet the needs of the U.S. defense industry, and now this advanced technology is available for mainstream computer and storage applications.  While the primary focus of our products has been speed, we achieve this speed without resorting to overly complex circuitry.  This emphasis on simplicity allows TMS to deliver outstanding performance with an easily understood and yet highly configurable system.  Texas Memory Systems is a member of the Fibre Channel Industry Association (FCIA), the Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA), the DAFS Collaborative, and is partnered with Oracle, Sun, Hewlett Packard, and FalconStor in order to deliver the World’s Fastest Storage to the enterprise.
